Empowering the Next Generation: Why Emotional Regulation is the Ultimate Summer Skill
Summer is traditionally a time for teens to take a break from school, relax, and maybe earn a little spending money. But what if a summer opportunity could offer them something even deeper? What if it could give them the tools to navigate the ups and downs of life with confidence, clarity, and resilience?
This year, we are launching an exciting 9-Week Summer Program starting July 1st for youth ages 13 to 19. It’s designed to do exactly that: provide a supportive space where teens can earn a stipend while learning how to strengthen their emotional regulation skills.
Why Focus on Emotional Regulation?
Being a teenager today comes with an overwhelming amount of pressure—from navigating social dynamics and future planning to managing day-to-day stress. Emotional regulation isn't about hiding or suppressing how we feel. It’s about building self-awareness, recognizing our triggers, and learning healthy ways to respond rather than react.
When young people master these skills, it changes everything. It boosts their confidence, improves their relationships, and sets them up for long-term success in school, work, and life.
What the Program Offers
We believe that personal growth and wellness should be accessible and rewarding. Here is what participants can expect:
Financial Empowerment: Teens will earn a stipend for their time, dedication, and active engagement throughout the 9 weeks.
Skill-Building Workshops: Interactive sessions focused on practical, real-world emotional regulation and mindfulness tools.
Community Connection: A safe, judgment-free space to connect with peers and grow together.
Meet Your Host: Jodie Spartz
This initiative is close to my heart. As a Philadelphia-native mental health advocate, a Los Angeles youth peer support specialist, and an NYC-trained wellness specialist, I have spent years working closely with young people to navigate life's transitions. My mission is to bridge the gap between mental wellness and practical life skills, ensuring our community's youth feel seen, heard, and fully equipped for the future.
How to Get Involved
The program kicks off on July 1st, 2026 and runs for 9 weeks. Space is limited, and we want to ensure every teen who wants a spot can secure one.
