I've been through a lot of things in this life and I'm absolutely sure insane things happen everywhere to everyone so these probably aren't that big of a deal but for me they were wild little TV moments.
I went to the hospital in Jamaica Queens for a follow up on my sprained ankle. You can read about it here; https://www.expresspassion4life.com/2025/08/finding-self-part-9-eyes-wide-open.html while waiting for a nurse the backroom where I was placed became a scene from the show 911. At one point I thought I was apart of some kind of prank show. The Paramedics came in the backroom, there were other patients besides me sitting in their designated cubicles separated by curtains. The paramedics walked a man into the room he had a ring stuck on his finger. I could see that his finger had swelled up which made the situation worse.
What they did next was mind blowing. They started to saw this mans ring off his finger. I was watching like, ok so they aren't going to take him in a different place to do this. As the saw was making the sound that it does when cutting metal there was blood dripping and it didn't seem like they were making any progress because the ring didn't come off. I must've looked horrified. As I'm typing this my hair is raising just remembering, giving myself goose bumps. I say I must've looked horrified because a nurse came and closed my curtain because they were right in front of me. I mean I appreciate her and all but I could still hear the saw cutting the metal. Eventually after what seemed like an eternity they were finally able to remove the ring. I was left slightly traumatized and confused. I like watching the show 911 but I'd rather not be apart of it in real life what's up with that?
Story #2: This story took place on the bus, the Q44 in the Bronx at the last stop. Now I'm on the bus not realizing I was going the wrong way the whole time. Swearing I was going the right way! I don't know what my mind was on this day because here I am at the end of the line figuring out I was supposed to get off the bus 10 stops ago. Ok I'm thinking now I'm going to be late. I go to the bus driver, tell him the situation and he says I can stay on and ride back with him. But first he had to tend to the guy laying across the back seats. We are both now wondering if this man is dead. All I'm thinking to myself is omg if he's dead I'mma be even later cuz I'm on this bus! The bus driver said he was goin to call the police. I started to panic as if I was wanted by the Law.
I was just thinking about how long that process would take and the fact that it would make me later. I say to the bus driver; look let's go back there together to check before you call the police. He agreed and to the back of the bus we went. The bus driver started off making a bunch of noise. The guy didn't budge. I went over and checked his pulse there was one so I tried to shake him awake. He wouldn't respond and I didn't have time for this. So I slapped him lightly. Nothing. I slapped him a little harder still nothing. I swung my had back from a distance and slapped the shit out of him. He jerked awake. I looked deep into his face smiling and said Baby you gotta get up you can't sleep right here.
His reaction looked as if it was going to be all over the place for a second then he felt it, I was happy and meant him no harm. He softens and the bus driver escorted him off the bus and my day continued. The bus driver asked where I was from. He said that a New Yorker wouldn't have done that. I think anyone would but I told him I was from Philly. He laughed and said oh yeah you ain't got time for this! Turns out I wasn't as late as I thought I was going to be maybe 10 mins. The funny thing is I can't even remember where I was going!
