I Slept in the Lions Den (Book 18)

Remember book reports when we were in school? For some they were a dreaded terrible thing, for others they were fun ways to recall your favorite book and an easy format to tell someone what the book was about. I've decided to post some reports of books I've read recently; let's jump right in.

This is the first book read for 2026. I came upon this book in South Central Los Angeles at a community resource fair. I was stopping at each table to see what the organizations have to offer.  When I walked up to Cover the  Homeless ministry table I immediately felt Ms. Rose's welcoming spirit. We spoke briefly about what Cover the Homeless does and she let me know that she founded the organization and that she also wrote a book about her life and what brought her to the point of starting this organization. I was immediately intrigued and purchased the book. She signed it for me and gave me her telephone number. That was a year ago now , I never called her but after reading her book she will be getting a phone call shortly!

Author:  Rose Rios

Title:  I Slept in the Lions Den

Main Characters:   Mostly Rose but I would add her family too. Not naming them one by one but her Mother, Father and siblings.

Setting: The book started off in the south in Lexington, Mississippi then it moved on to Los Angeles California.

Plot:  This was a story about resilience in the face of traumatic life events.

Personal Endorsement: This book triggered me and gave me a small anxiety attack. The even crazier part was that I couldn't put it down and every-time I did, I couldn't wait to pick it back up! I called my cousin and triggered him talking about the book. In my opinion Roses family definitely had a hand in her first Husband Timothy's death! My cousin felt otherwise he stated that there was things that Timothy could've done to prevent his death. I mean I can't say that he isn't right but I feel that her family's meddling was highly inappropriate and it played a part in his death. Well you'll have to read it and come up with your own conclusion.

A Recovery Love Story

Thank you Cliff for allowing me to write the love story of you & your Beautiful wife! I found this just tear jerking ❤️        There was a time in my life when my one true love was wine and spirits. I mean I knew drinking wasn't good for me & I played around with the thought of stopping every once in a while, but never enough for anything to stick. I wasn't the AA type of guy, I didn't feel the need to express my problems with a group of people. I didn't think that would be my route to recovery if I ever decided to stop. What I didn't know was that I was right. One day I was driving, on my way to take myself fishing. I had a 12 pack of Bud Light in my ice chest in the trunk. As I was driving I couldn't wait to pop a can open & feel that cold refreshing taste.      As I drove I passed a church tent revival. I slowed down for no particular reason & laughed to myself. I guess I caught them in a moment. Watching them as they were run...
