The Rastafarians (Book 13)

Remember book reports when we were in school? For some they were a dreaded terrible thing, for others they were fun ways to recall your favorite book and an easy format to tell someone what the book was about. I've decided to post some reports of books I've read recently; let's jump right in.

I was given this book by an owner of a cannabis farm in Northern California. I spent 3 months harvesting marijuana. It was one of the best experiences in my life. The cabin we stayed in atop a 4,000 ft mountain had a rather interesting book case. I asked the owner if I could swap a book for this one and he obliged. I'm glad he did because I learned so much about this. Culture/ Religion that I didn't know about and clarification on things I did.

Author: Lenoard E. Barrett, Sr.

Title:  The Rastafarians

Main Characters:  The Author and the Rasta's he interviewed

Setting: A lot of this book took place on the island of Jamaica in 1997. It goes further back in history literally to the time of Hailie  Selassie and Marcus Garvey.

Plot:  The Plot of this book is simple, it helps people understand who the Rastafarians are and what they are about. How they live and even how they came to be.

Personal Endorsement:  I learned a lot from this book. I became very interested in the authors journey and the things he endured while composing the information for the readers. Although I'm well educated on the culture/religion of it all, this book gave me an in depth view of the blood, sweat and tears it took a group of people to be able to find God in a way they understood it. This book is a real informative well researched and put together masterpiece.

A Recovery Love Story

Thank you Cliff for allowing me to write the love story of you & your Beautiful wife! I found this just tear jerking ❤️        There was a time in my life when my one true love was wine and spirits. I mean I knew drinking wasn't good for me & I played around with the thought of stopping every once in a while, but never enough for anything to stick. I wasn't the AA type of guy, I didn't feel the need to express my problems with a group of people. I didn't think that would be my route to recovery if I ever decided to stop. What I didn't know was that I was right. One day I was driving, on my way to take myself fishing. I had a 12 pack of Bud Light in my ice chest in the trunk. As I was driving I couldn't wait to pop a can open & feel that cold refreshing taste.      As I drove I passed a church tent revival. I slowed down for no particular reason & laughed to myself. I guess I caught them in a moment. Watching them as they were run...

Finding Self PT 10 (Watch Me Flow)

After the injury everything changed. Being laid up like that with no help. I had to hobble to the market only to be ran over by crowds of people that I couldn't keep up with. Being left by the Lyft because the driver couldn't figure out how to come around the corner. Just feeling helpless, abandoned and stranded. Feelings like this will put things in a different perspective really fast. Some people out there have major support and people around to help when things get tough and some people simply just don't. For me I'm one of the one's that don't but I find that strangers are always kinder to me than my own family who is by society's standards supposed to be our first safety net & supporters.       N-E-how being laid up like that and alone I had more uninterrupted time to think than I ever did in my life. Self reflection questions that I never even thought of started to pop into my mind. The first one was career wise. The question was ...
