These are lines that stuck out to me when reading a book called Wild Mind, Living the writers life. By, Natalie Goldberg. (Part 2)
- Trusting ur own mind is essential 4 writing. Words come out of the mind. (Yesssss u cannot be afraid of ur own mind.)
- Say what u want to say. Don't worry if it's correct, polite, appropriate. Just let it rip! (I'm still working on getting comfortable with this, so don't worry if u find something challenging, take it on!)
- Go for the jugular. If something scary comes up, go for it. That's where the energy is. Otherwise you'll spend all your time writing around whatever makes u nervous. It will probably be abstract, bland writing because ur avoiding the truth. Hemingway said, "write hard & clear about what hurts. Don't avoid it, it has all the energy." (Again I'm still working on this)
- Stability is something unusual for a writer.(This must be true because my life is the definition of unstable right now.)
- We have to build slowly, we acknowledge who we are in the present moment & what we need in order to continue. (This is also true)
