These are lines that stuck out to me when reading a book called Wild Mind, Living the writers life. By, Natalie Goldberg. (Part 9)
- Someone is either listening or not we don't have to get them to really do it. We can just settle back into our bodies & write, neither hiding nor reaching out. Just being present, then we write out of true emptiness. We write because we write & for no other reason. That is good. (I'm excited to make money from my writing, but that is not the reason I write, I write because it is something I can't help but to do.)
- Even if your friend forgets your writing date, you will write. Even if your family criticizes you, you are broke, you think your stupid, you have arthritis, you will write. ( Because you can't help it)
- There is no such thing as failure. The only failure in writing is when you stop doing it then you fail yourself. (I'm dedicated to this & right now I don't even know why.)
- You can't plant a grass seed & then stick your finger in the seed & yank out a blade of grass. It doesn't work like that. We have to be patient to let the blade of grass grow. (Think about this deeply.)
- It is good to try different things but eventually we must settle on one thing & commit ourselves. Otherwise we are always drifting & there is no peace. To stay with one thing gives us an opportunity to penetrate our lives & be free. (Thank you for this understanding)
- Clarity and perseverance are are difficult in American Society because the basis of capitalism is greed & dissatisfaction. (Absolutely)
