Remember book reports when we were in school? For some they were a dreaded terrible thing, for others they were fun ways to recall your favorite book and an easy format to tell someone what the book was about. I've decided to post some reports of books I've read recently; let's jump right in.
I grew up with my Grandmother and we had a library house. There were all kinds of books everywhere. There were 3 floors & on each floor there was something either educational or fun to read. This book belongs to my favorite uncle and it's been in our family library since 1995. No it's not actually about what the title says. I mean it is but not really. We're about to get into it now.
Author: James K. Van Fleet
Title: 25 Steps 2 Power & Mastery Over People
Main Characters: This book didn't have characters per say. There were true accounts of people's experience after using the advice offered.
Setting: If I had to guess I would say James was sitting a his desk in his office or maybe even on a plane sometimes writing this book. Also the ©️ is 1983 so it was written a year before I was born and thought of way before that!.
Plot: This book was about great management skills. How to be a mutherfuggin BOSS!
Personal Endorsement: There were a few statements that stood out to me. Something's I would like to remember if I ever ran a company. Also just some damn good life advice.
* He said those who failed in business didn't determine what people's needs were before they started.
* Companies benefit by finding out specifically when a person needs and desires are through psychological studies and marketing surveys.
* People's physical needs include food, drink, sleep, clothing, shelter, sexual gratification and other normal body functions.
* Greed at times motivates all of us. Green will make a person want a larger house that he needs, I'm more expensive car than he requires, better clothes, better food, and so on.
* When a person is driving overpowering obsession is to get more than he can ever use, it is because of greed.
* When all other human motives fail, you can always appeal to a person's greed to get your own way.
* When management gives employees everything they want, they will not want a union because it won't be necessary. So by doing this the company gets everything he wants too.
* For when you help a person get what they want, you'll be able to get what you want as well.
* You must have confidence in dealing with people as well as confidence in yourself and in your own abilities to do your own particular job. If either of things is lacking, you cannot possibly succeed.
* Also your confidence in others abilities will inspire them to use their full powers to get the job done for you.
These are just 10 points I pulled out there are so many more. There are parts of this book that will remind you that it was written in the early 1980's but that doesn't make it any less true or powerful. Stay tuned, our next report is coming soon!
