Surviving LA part II

As the LA housing search continues...

We found ourselves on the streets & out of money for a couple weeks due to the Beverly Hills swindle & the cost of staying in hotels. On day one on the streets, we both worked a night shift and spent the day sleeping in our storage unit, Day 2 was the Santa Monica/Venice beach night, sleeping in our tent & fighting a serious wind till the morning. On day 3 we fought with the wind again more severe in our tent at the Venice Graffiti walls on the beach & lost. We dramatically packed up fighting the wind the whole way & ended up camping not too far away in Penmar park. The good thing about this was that they had a bathroom available.

The hauk was out too that night it was so cold, I thought I was gonna die from hypothermia. I don't even know how I made it through the night. All I know is that I was not prepared for this! The universe carried me into day 4 & we both again worked the night shift. I worked from 10 pm until 6:30am, he worked from 8pm until 3am and came to my job and sat in the photo station until I got off. By the time day 5 came on  2/16/23, we had been calling 211, the emergency LA number for two days. Phones dying as we tried to stay on hold for 3 & 4 hours. We napped in storage after we were off work & I took a brief nap out of generally being overwhelmed in the dog park in Venice while smoking some herb & calling 211.  This time we got through and was able to get a one night voucher & a  Lyft ride to a hotel on Western and Slauson in South Central... I also napped in the Lyft as he touched up my notes for this post.

The hotel voucher🙌🏽

Oh do know that the story continues, I ended up in a Shelter in South Central... where was he?

  Stay tuned😬

A Recovery Love Story

Thank you Cliff for allowing me to write the love story of you & your Beautiful wife! I found this just tear jerking ❤️        There was a time in my life when my one true love was wine and spirits. I mean I knew drinking wasn't good for me & I played around with the thought of stopping every once in a while, but never enough for anything to stick. I wasn't the AA type of guy, I didn't feel the need to express my problems with a group of people. I didn't think that would be my route to recovery if I ever decided to stop. What I didn't know was that I was right. One day I was driving, on my way to take myself fishing. I had a 12 pack of Bud Light in my ice chest in the trunk. As I was driving I couldn't wait to pop a can open & feel that cold refreshing taste.      As I drove I passed a church tent revival. I slowed down for no particular reason & laughed to myself. I guess I caught them in a moment. Watching them as they were run...

Cilla Lee-Jenkins Book 12

Remember book reports when we were in school? For some they were a dreaded terrible thing, for others they were fun ways to recall your favorite book and an easy format to tell someone what the book was about. I've decided to post some reports of books I've read recently; let's jump right in.       This book was given to me as an inspiration gift because it was noticed that I enjoy writing and reading very much. At work during down time I would write short stories and I even wrote the love story of one of my married co-workers on this blog. Matter fact the person that gave me the book!
